Montclair State University Placement Test (MSUPT)

The MSUPT is designed to determine competency levels in Reading and Elementary Algebra and College Level Math and must be taken prior to registering for courses.

The MSUPT also provides information about your individual skills in reading and mathematics. The result of this test will help you and your academic advisor in making decisions about the kinds of courses you are prepared to take. Therefore, it is very important that you perform to the best of your ability, as your scores will help determine either you take remedial or regular courses.

The scores of the Montclair State University Placement Test will help identify those students whose deficiencies in reading and mathematics may reduce their chances of success in the University.
