The perfect complement to any undergraduate major, the African-American Studies minor explores the evolution and theories of African-American Studies. Through this interdisciplinary program, you will examine the contributions people of African descent have made to human and world history.<\/p>\n

Courses critically analyze a wide range of philosophies, cultural experiences, social issues, leadership models and solutions to social problems. Building on the African-American Studies scholar-activist tradition, you will explore education as a means not only for creating personal success but for developing stronger societies rooted in respect for diversity and human rights.<\/p>\n

The African-American Studies minor will provide Black students a greater knowledge of self, self-respect and self-esteem. African-American Studies for other students will build knowledge and awareness of African-American history, African-American culture and African-American people.<\/p>\n

Required courses and electives are available across disciplines including the Arts, History, Literature, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Religion and Black Women\u2019s Studies. Most courses also satisfy General Education requirements. See the curriculum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>
