Have you considered working with older adults and addressing the challenges of aging? The undergraduate Minor in Gerontology (aging studies) provides students with an opportunity to learn about the extensive, complex needs of older adults, their families, and caregivers.<\/p>\n

At a time when one in six Americans is 65 or older, the field of gerontology and aging studies is growing. Job opportunities abound for professionals to work in multiple contexts with a diverse population of older adults and their families.<\/p>\n

This multidisciplinary 18-credit minor challenges students to think critically about various aspects of adult development and aging, and complements most majors. The courses in this minor help students gain background knowledge for working with older adults in a variety of community-based service, public, private and non-profit settings.<\/p>\n

Gerontology and aging studies is one of the fastest growing fields with an excellent employment outlook for students with career interests in fields like health and well-being, psychology, art and music therapy, adult fitness and recreation, family science and human development, law, management, and social policy.
