For those seeking to make a difference in the lives of children and communities, the School Psychologist Educational Services (Certification) program equips them with the skills, strategies, and insight to support student success in today’s complex educational environments.

This 65-credit graduate level program is designed to prepare graduate students for careers as certified school psychologists and includes foundational courses in psychological and educational theory, child and adolescent development, multicultural and social issues and other required coursework. The program also provides intensive school-based field experience, immersing students as apprentice psychologists in partnering school districts.

Applicants without a master’s degree who wish to enroll in the School Psychologist Certification Program must apply to both the MA Program in Clinical Psychology (Child/Adolescent Psychology Concentration) and the Certification in School Psychology (CERT) program.

This program was accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) in 2020 and by the Council for the Accreditation of Educational Preparation (CAEP) in 2021 for its provision of a comprehensive interdisciplinary curriculum that integrates school psychology, educational psychology, counseling, multicultural psychology, special education, and supervised application through practicum and externship settings to national standard.

Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to receive a school psychologist standard certificate (endorsement code #3100) from the New Jersey Board of Education (NJBOE) and are eligible for the National Certificate in School Psychology (NCSP), conferred by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), which is the highest distinction offered by the association. See the curriculum.

Apply NowRequest Info

Program Format
In-person

College or School
College for Education and Engaged Learning

Area of Study
Health, Medicine and the Sciences

Upcoming Admissions Events

Admission Requirements

Equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in psychology OR a minimum of 12 undergraduate credits in psychology, including a course in statistics and an experimental/research methodology course.
