If you meet those requirements, your application will then be reviewed by the School of Nursing for a final decision on your admission to the major.<\/p>\n<p>We take a holistic approach to admissions, looking closely at both your academic background and personal achievements.<\/p>\n<h3>What We Look For<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Academic Performance:<\/strong> We strongly consider your high school GPA, the rigor of your coursework, and completion of at least 16 college-prep units, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>4 years of English<\/li>\n<li>3 years of math (Algebra I &amp; II, Geometry)<\/li>\n<li>2 years of the same world language<\/li>\n<li>2 years of lab science<\/li>\n<li>2 years of social sciences<\/li>\n<li>3 additional units in any of the above subjects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students who go above and beyond the minimum \u2014 with honors, AP, or additional coursework in subjects like science, language, or advanced math \u2014 will be recognized during the review process.<\/p>\n<h3>We also consider:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Two letters of recommendation (from teachers, counselors, or employers)<\/li>\n<li>A thoughtful, well-written personal statement<\/li>\n<li>Involvement in extracurriculars such as community service, leadership, sports, or the arts<\/li>\n<li>Any hands-on experience related to the healthcare field<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Before beginning your clinical courses, you\u2019ll need to pass a <strong>criminal background check and urine toxicology screening<\/strong>, completed by an external agency. Results are sent confidentially to the School of Nursing.
