Commencement Honorary Degree Recipient: James B. Patterson

Montclair State University has named author James B. Patterson as its 2014 honorary degree recipient. Mr. Patterson will deliver the commencement address to the 2014 graduating class and receive an honorary Doctor of Letters degree at Commencement, which will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the IZOD Center. Junior forward Melissa Tobie was one of the 10 members selected to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III All-America Team. In addition, Red Hawk head coach Karin Harvey was named a finalist for the WBCA Division III Coach of the Year. Harvey, who was honored for the second consecutive year, was named for Region 3. No. 3 Softball Takes Two From Rutgers-Camden as Winning Streak Hits 17 Games

Senior righthander Alex Hill pitched a four-hit shutout in the opener while senior Alisha Cumberton and junior Brooke Powers each homered in the second game as No. 3 Montclair State swept past Rutgers-Camden 4-0 and 2-1. Joseph Moore '59 MA

Professor Emeritus Joseph Thomas Moore ’59 MA has been selected to receive the 2014 Rutgers Graduate School of Education Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award. The recipient of Montclair State’s first Distinguished Teacher Award in 1992, Moore enjoyed a 39-year career as an educator, scholar, historian and campus leader at Montclair State.
