President Susan A. Cole Honored as Educator of the Year

Montclair State University president Susan A. Cole was honored as the Research and Development Council of New Jersey’s Educator of the Year at the 34th Edison Patent Awards Ceremony and Celebration, hosted at the Liberty Science Center. Students Help Generate Interactive Election Map for Media

It was a late night on November 5 in Schmitt Hall. Students from Director of NJ Commons Debbie Galant's local media class and English Professor Diane Herbst's public affairs reporting class in Montclair State University's School of Communication and Media were busy culling numbers from 21 county websites across the state to generate an interactive results map for the 120 senate and assembly races in New Jersey. Renowned Researcher Discusses Cell Phones and Cancer Risk

Nationally renowned cancer researcher David McCormick, PhD, was the featured speaker at the Margaret and Herman Sokol Science Lecture held at Montclair State University’s Alexander Kasser Theater on October 1. A Lasting Legacy: The Doug M. Williams '85 Memorial Scholarship

On September 29, nearly 250 runners took part in a special 5,000 meter run, the second annual Doug Williams Memorial Race. Established in honor and memory of Doug M. Williams ’85, a graduate of Montclair State’s School of Business, the race took place for the second year in a row on the grounds of the Montclair Art Museum. The race raised funds for the Doug M. Michael Gabriele '75

Michael Gabriele ’75 can handle rejection. As an author and artist, he’s had his fair share. “There are a lot of ‘no’s’, he says, “but when you get a ‘yes’, it’s so rewarding.” Before Michael had two published books under his belt, he was a student in the Philosophy and Religion Department in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, a department he remains closely connected to today. Jaclyn Beck '12

Jaclyn Beck ’12 stepped outside her comfort zone after encouragement from Dr. Robert Reid in his field experience course. She took his advice and it truly paid off. Beck, originally an Education major, found a greater passion in the field of Family and Child Studies and decided to pursue a career as a Child Life Specialist.
