Jessica Marini \u201906 follows her own advice after receiving her bachelor\u2019s degree in Mathematics, and a minor in Physics at Montclair State. \u201cDon\u2019t be afraid. It\u2019s a transition that is meant to happen. Take your knowledge and apply it elsewhere,\u201d says Marini. Her love and knowledge of math gave her the zeal to continue with her studies at Columbia University, where she pursued her master\u2019s degree in Statistics and doctorate in Measurement and Evaluation. Currently, Marini is working full-time at The College Board as an Assistant Research Scientist.<\/p>\n

Growing up in Clifton, N.J., Marini always knew that she wanted to attend Montclair State, and she made it her mission to get accepted with a full ride. While at Montclair State, Marini was actively involved on campus as a member of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, and an emergency medical technician (EMT) with Montclair State\u2019s Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Being involved was how Marini realized her passion for helping others. \u201cWorking with EMS showed me a different side to my interests besides math. It ignited my passion for helping others and giving back to my community,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
Noticing how much she learned about herself as an undergraduate, Marini realized that staying connected to Montclair State was not only a necessity but also the perfect way to give back to a community that greatly impacted her life. After graduating, Marini remained at Montclair State working in the President\u2019s Office, the Provost\u2019s Office, and also the Center for Research and Evaluation and Human Services (CREEHS).<\/p>\n
Currently, Marini is an adjunct on campus within the Graduate Certificate Program in Program Evaluation where she teaches courses on data collection and analysis. She is also involved in the Recent Alumni Network (RAN) Committee and the Alumni Recruitment Team.<\/p>\n
Marini\u2019s next step is building and expanding her career by aspiring to become a well-known educational researcher. She believes that the sky is the limit and although she has accomplished what many may deem to be enough, she still strives to go further. \u201cThe best decision I have ever made was going to Montclair State. This university gave me a fantastic start by opening numerous doors as I learned about myself and developed into the person I am today,\u201d says Marini.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
