To help efforts, prior to Giving Day, Athletics kicked-off a 10-day social media campaign with Athletic Director Holly Gera pledging to match up to $1500 for gifts to Athletics. Within three days, Alumni and friends donated the $1500 needed for the match. In the run-up to Giving Day, sports teams posted video highlights, championship photos and messages from student athletes, coaches and alumni asking for support. By the end, Athletics had raised $8,700 to support nine teams and programs. To celebrate, Swim Coach Brian McLaughlin back flipped into the pool fully dressed.<\/p>\n<p>Other highlights of Giving Day include over $15,000\u00a0raised for the Emergency Scholarship Fund\u00a0and $2,000\u00a0raised for the Red Hawk Pantry. The success of the day also included challenge gifts of $10,000 from a friend of the University, as well as $5,000 from an alumna of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Alumni, faculty, staff, friends, parents, and students all contributed to the success of the day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are blown away by the generosity of the Montclair State community.
