Patrick Coyle 13\u2019 MBA hoped for a career in the healthcare industry that would enable him to support patients and contribute in a meaningful way to society. After graduating from Montclair State with a Bachelor of Science degree and an MBA in Business Management, he was able to do just that through various roles of increasing responsibility in the finance departments of prominent pharmaceutical organizations.<\/p>\n
A seasoned financial professional with more than two decades of experience, Coyle currently serves as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Eisai Inc. Before joining Eisai, he held financial leadership positions in Global Commercial Oncology at Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals and in US Commercial Immunology and Dermatology at Novartis, as well as serving as Vice President of Finance at Insmed.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy greatest professional accomplishment is working in my current role. Eisai\u2019s commitment to innovative solutions in disease prevention, treatment and care for the health and well-being of people worldwide is embodied in our human health care (hhc) mission,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
In his current role, Coyle is responsible for leading all of the functions within Eisai\u2019s Finance Team. His passion includes developing a diverse team of people to enable strong business partnerships, creating efficiencies in process, and implementing agile technology to develop dynamic modeling capabilities. These attributes enable a talented team to use powerful insights and drive quality decision-making.<\/p>\n
Coyle credits his experience with the faculty at Montclair State\u2019s Feliciano School of Business for giving him great perspective on problem solving and critical thinking. \u201cThey helped me bridge the learnings from the academic community to real-world challenges that present themselves on a regular basis in this industry,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
Dr. Wencang Zhou was very influential in introducing Coyle to different leadership styles that one day would become beneficial in his career. Coyle says that he now has a dynamic and fluid leadership approach that allows him to \u201coptimize for different business situations, organizational culture and requirements to support continuous people development.\u201d<\/p>\n
As a graduate student, Coyle did not have the flexibility in his schedule to take part in many extra-curricular activities on campus. As he puts it, \u201cI was attending classes at night and during weekends, all while managing my career.\u201d However, he was fortunate to explore a number of marketing and entrepreneurial electives to help him broaden his strategic thinking beyond his major.<\/p>\n
