Fucci \u201880<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"prpl-column three-fourths\">\n<h3>Rose And John J. Cali Award For Business Leadership And Community Engagement<\/h3>\n<p><em>This award, named for the Cali\u2019s \u2013 Rose \u201980 and John \u201909 Hon &#8212; longtime Montclair residents and committed supporters of Montclair State, honors the memory of John, whose love of music inspired him to make a generous gift to the University establishing the John J. Cali School of Music, and the service of Rose, a loyal alumna and a longtime member of the University\u2019s Board of Trustees. This award is presented to a member of the business community, either an individual or a company, who is committed to creating strategic partnerships that enhance research and discovery and ultimately benefit the larger community.<\/em><br \/>\n<\/p><\/div><\/p><\/div>\n<p>Mike Fucci is an experienced board leader and executive with 40 years as a practitioner and principal at Deloitte, including four years as the Executive Chairman of the Board of the Deloitte US Firms. Before retiring as chairman and principal of Deloitte, Mike provided governance and operational leadership on priority matters such as strategy, leadership succession, risk mitigation, talent development, as well as executive performance and compensation. He also led client engagements and is a thought leader within the HR consulting market-particularly in the areas of talent strategies, succession management, and HR transformation-as well as in healthcare merger integration.<\/p>\n<p>Mike was elected chairman of the Deloitte US Board of Directors in 2015. During Mike\u2019s tenure as chairman, the Deloitte US Firms\u2019 revenue grew 19% to $19B, and headcount grew 25% to over 5,500 partners \/ directors and 100,000 employees. He redefined and communicated a clear vision of the role of the board as a governing body that upholds reputational excellence, cultivates leaders and successors, and capitalizes on individual differences. He established a set of board core values to unite and provide a foundation for the board\u2019s responsibilities. He focused on increasing transparency of board activities through open communication and difficult conversations, strengthening Deloitte\u2019s sense of partnership, and enhancing succession processes.<\/p>\n<p>Mike established and co-chaired the Board Leadership Forum, a coalition of Fortune 500 board chairman and lead directors who convene to discuss research, trends, and perspectives pertinent to today\u2019s evolving business environment. He also served as chair of the Deloitte Foundation providing strategic oversight of a not-for-profit organization, which supports education initiatives in the US.<\/p>\n<p>During his consulting career, Mike specialized in health care merger integration and HR transformation, and was named to Consulting Magazine\u2019s distinguished \u201cTop 25 Consultants\u201d list for his work with clients and leadership excellence. He served clients including Pfizer, John and Johnson, and National Retail Federation. He also served as a senior advisor to several of Deloitte\u2019s strategic accounts, including American Express, JP Morgan, and Northwell Health.<\/p>\n<p>Mike led a transformation of Deloitte Consulting\u2019s US Human Capital practice, which grew from under $25 million in revenue to more than $1 billion in eight years. He also served as the Chief Operating Officer for Deloitte Consulting LLP.<\/p>\n<p>Mike promotes the benefits of leader-led sponsorship and diversity on boards. He served as a sponsoring executive for the US 30% Club and participated as a mentor in their cross-industry mentoring program for high talent women seeking corporate board positions. He has written and spoken extensively on these topics including features in Fortune, Huffington Post, NACD, CNBC and at numerous universities and conferences.<\/p>\n<p>Mike attended Montclair State University in New Jersey, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics. He was a member of the National Association of Corporate Board Directors (NACD), and an executive board member of the Council for Competitiveness. He supports the New Jersey Performing Arts Center by serving on the board of directors and as a member of the Human Resources committee.
