Clients are selected from the non-profit sector and projects range from logos and websites to apps. The focus of the competition is creativity, not technique, so students are not allowed to use computers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Sussex County Community College was the host site of this year\u2019s Design Derby, where NJ design students broke into 10 teams to create a set of outreach materials for the client,<\/span> <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/newcitykids.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">New City Kids<\/a>. <span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">James Smith, of <\/span><a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.smithdesign.com\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Smith Design<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">, long-time event sponsor and student supporter, moderated the event and outlined the goals for the students. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Jeremy Jerschina, Executive Director at New City Kids <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">selected the winners for Best Design and Best Presentation. The Presentation Award was added in recent years to highlight the importance of communication and presentation skills in the design profession.<\/span><em style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><strong>About ADCNJ:<\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"> ADCNJ is the only statewide organization for New Jersey art directors, graphic designers and other creative professionals.
