{"id":207755,"date":"2023-04-28T15:26:39","date_gmt":"2023-04-28T19:26:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/art-and-design\/?p=207755"},"modified":"2023-05-05T15:57:55","modified_gmt":"2023-05-05T19:57:55","slug":"launchpad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/art-and-design\/2023\/04\/28\/launchpad\/","title":{"rendered":"Launchpad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/art-and-design\">Department of Art &amp; Design<\/a> at Montclair State University in partnership with Studio Montclair is excited to announce the opening of Launchpad, a juried exhibition featuring the thesis work of select graduating students from the department.<\/p>\n<p>Launchpad will showcase a range of works from the Visual Arts, Visual Communication Design, Fashion Design &amp; Merchandising, and Product Design programs.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors will have the opportunity to experience a compelling sampling of the talent of Montclair State University students showing 2D works that explore a diverse range of themes. These thought-provoking artworks visually communicate cultural issues and modern concepts.<\/p>\n<p>Montclair State University is proud to announce a partnership with Studio Montclair, an inclusive, nationwide non-profit organization exhibiting, professional and emerging artists and others interested in the visual arts. The mission of the organization is to promote culture, education, equality, and tolerance through art. Located in Downtown Montclair, this exhibition is sure to be a highlight of the Montclair art scene and is an exciting opportunity for the students, art enthusiasts, and the general public.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe Department of Art and Design is thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Studio Montclair for this exhibition of student work. It has been a delight to work with the members and staff at SMI, and to form a meaningful connection with such a longstanding and important leader in the cultural conversation of Montclair. The opening reception will take place on Wednesday, May 10th from 6pm-9pm. He will draw a line of connection that articulates associations both intended and discovered along the way.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday, May 16, 6:00 \u2013 7:00pm: \u201cIndustrial Design, Its Role in Society and Industry,\u201d presented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/~feiglerd\">Denis Feigler<\/a>, Associate Professor, Director of Product Design, Dept. of Art and Design, MSU: Emotional design is a complex approach to product design. It involves visceral design, behavioral design, and reflective design. All these levels combine together to form an effective and impactful design that offers a delightful experience to users.
