Share Fare: A Fundraising Event to Benefit Scholarships for Art and Design Students
With the rising costs of education, the Department of Art and Design at Montclair State University offers promising and talented creative individuals an excellent education for relatively affordable costs. However, many of our students still need financial support. The proceeds of this event will go towards an Outstanding Student Award in the Department of Art and Design.
About Share Fare: an Experiment in Communal Eating
Ruth Borgenicht is an alumna of the MFA in Studio Arts program at Montclair State University and currently teaches Beginning Sculpture in the Department of Art and Design. Borgenicht creates unconventional eating vessels that must be manipulated by multiple diners to figure out the best way to engage with the food prepared by Halycon’s chef, Tess Tripodi. The dinner is a collaborative group activity based on sharing, mutuality, and community mindedness. Group orchestration is required to use the hand-made ceremic vessels, which connect strangers and friends in a stimulating, communally interdependent eating event.
Halcyon seafood brasserie is a Montclair neighborhood restaurant offering a raw bar, chef prepared entrees, and brasserie plates. This event will be a Prix Fixe dinner of $75 which includes a three course meal, glass of wine, and a donation to the Montclair State University Department of Art and Design Outstanding Student Award. Halcyon is located at 114 Walnut Street, Montclair, a short walk from the Walnut Street train station.
