Montclair State University\u2019s Vocal Accord, the John J. Cali School of Music chamber choir, will be performing The Legend of Zelda™: Symphony of the Goddesses Second Quest <\/em>at The Theater at Madison Square Garden on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 8:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Based on the popular Nintendo video game series, The Legend of Zelda<\/em>™, Second Quest<\/em> is the first video game-themed concert to feature a complete four-movement symphony showcasing the work of Nintendo composer and sound director, Koji Kondo. The multi-media event will feature a live symphony orchestra and choir, stunning new visuals and music recounting the classic storylines from The Legend of Zelda<\/em>™ games, Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker<\/em>, A Link to the Past <\/em>and Twilight Princess.<\/em><\/p>\n

Formed in 2010 by Director of Choral Activities Heather J. Buchanan, Vocal Accord is an extracurricular, project-based chamber choir comprising students from the Montclair State University Singers. On occasion, choral alumni also sing in the choir, as is the case with Zelda<\/em>. The size and composition of the choir varies according to the current project.<\/p>\n

In June 2012 Vocal Accord toured Europe, performing in Austria and Italy. The University-produced documentary American Voices<\/em> featured this tour experience and aired on NJTV. In August 2013 the first Zelda<\/em> performance (the first quest) was performed at NJPAC with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra.<\/p>\n

Buchanan describes the Zelda<\/em> project as \u201ca ground-breaking multimedia event that gives our students a valuable opportunity to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced professional environment, while also bringing a live music experience to many people who would not ordinarily find themselves in a symphonic concert.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an exciting concert,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s also a tremendous opportunity for our singers to gain recognition for their excellent work in New York.\u201d<\/p>\n

This season Vocal Accord will give performances on campus and at venues throughout the tri-state area, including Carnegie Hall\u2019s Weill Recital Hall.<\/p>\n

Tickets to the November 1 concert are available from The Theater at Madison Square Garden. A 15 percent discount is available to members and friends of the University community. Use the ticket code \u201cBokoblin\u201d to receive the discount for box office, online and phone orders.<\/p>\n
