{"id":41,"date":"2018-10-25T11:16:28","date_gmt":"2018-10-25T15:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/ben-samuels-childrens-center\/?page_id=41"},"modified":"2025-10-14T09:42:20","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T13:42:20","slug":"early-intervention","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/ben-samuels-childrens-center\/early-intervention\/","title":{"rendered":"Early Intervention"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Jeffrey Dworkin Early Intervention Program<\/h2>\n<p>The Jeffrey Dworkin Early Intervention Program is approved by the <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/nj.gov\/health\/fhs\/eis\/index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">New Jersey Early Intervention System<\/a> (NJEIS), under the Department of Health, to provide quality services for infants and toddlers (birth to age three) with developmental delays or disabilities, and their families.\u00a0 The program provides early intervention services for families living in Essex County.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The program supports the state\u2019s mission to enhance the capacity of families to meet the needs of their children.<\/li>\n<li>It promotes collaborative partnerships among family, their community, early intervention service, and health care providers and preschool\/childcare programs.<\/li>\n<li>It uses a family-centered approach, recognizing that each family and its culture are unique and respecting the family\u2019s values, aspirations and priorities.<\/li>\n<li>Services are provided in accordance with an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) and embedded in typical family activities and routines.\u00a0 The intent is to help families learn new strategies and feel competent in supporting their child\u2019s development.<\/li>\n<li>Services may be provided at home, in childcare or other community settings that are most natural and comfortable for the child and family.<\/li>\n<li>The program seeks to foster opportunities for the development of peer relationships with children without disabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>For more information contact Tanya Miller at <\/strong><a href=\"tel:9736557366\">973-655-7366<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>If you think your infant or toddler is not growing or developing as you would expect, seek help early.\u00a0 You can contact the\u00a0<strong>New Jersey Early Intervention System<\/strong>\u00a0by calling the toll free number at\u00a0<a href=\"tel:1-888-653-4463\">888-653-4463<\/a>\u00a0to schedule an evaluation.
