In an era when common core standards, scripted curricula, standardized assessment, and other educational mandates are reaching down to even our youngest learners, it’s critical that educators, families, and policy makers continue to value and nurture the relationships that are at the true core of early childhood development and learning.  The connections young children make with peers, family members, and the other caregivers and professionals in their lives, and the ways these individuals come together in partnerships, are central to the education and development of young children.   An ethic of care philosophy (Noddings, 1992) that recognizes relationships as resources can enhance and enliven early childhood education within current standards and requirements

This conference will bring together practitioners, professionals, teacher educators and all those who care about young children to share ideas and strategies for practice, research and policy that hold relationships at the core of early childhood development and learning.
