The iCitizen mobile app has been acclaimed as a novel tool for heightened democratic participation, as it uses social media to connect citizens with their government officials and each other.

As the Washington, DC based iCitizen organization prepares to launch the app’s innovative second generation, Civic Engagement Managers Alex Schreiner and Alida Beck come to MSU to discuss the technology and related issues of democratic communication and culture. The interactive session will feature a guided tour of the second-generation mobile app as well as conversation about its impetus, functions, and consequences for our behavior as members of a democratic society. Register here.

The event is part of the School of Communication and Media’s Colloquium Series as well as MSU’s annual Constitution Day celebration, and is sponsored by the Office of the Provost.
