Happy Birthday Orson Welles: Filmmaker/director/actor Orson Welles remains one of the most discussed figures in cinematic history. The Film Institute at Montclair State celebrates the centenary year of Welles's birth with two events: This Nov. 2 event with James Naremore and a Nov. 3 event with Chuck Workman.

About the lecture

Prof. Naremore, a foremost authority on Welles, has just completed a new and revised edition of his book, The Magic World of Orson Welles. His recent book includes a new section on the unfinished film The Other Side of the Wind. Naremore analyzes the political and psychological implications of the films, Welles's idiosyncratic style, and the biographical details--both playful and vexing--that impacted each work.

Moderator: Film Studies professor Janet Cutler
