Please join JAST and Charlie Bernhaut of the weekly "Two Hours of Jewish Soul Music" show as we discuss the life and music of Josef "Yossele" Rosenblatt, the Ukrainian-born chazzan (cantor) and composer who is often regarded as the greatest cantor of all time. We will explore Cantor Rosenblatt’s life vis-à-vis the historical context of sound recordings. Original 78 RPM recordings will be played on a 1905 RCA Victrola (cylinder records will also be demonstrated, played on a 1902 gramophone). We will also screen a clip of Yossele singing in the first film “talkie,” The Jazz Singer.
