Dr. Jonathan Harris is Head of the School of Art at Birmingham City University and Professor in Global Art and Design Studies. He has published twenty books and over 100 essays in edited collections and journals. His interests have moved from US-European modernism to global contemporary art, partly as a result of working with Tate Liverpool on its exhibition program since 1999 when he began teaching at the University of Liverpool. Harris is due to publish his third book on globalization and contemporary art in 2016: The Global Contemporary Art World (Wiley-Blackwell). This features case studies on contemporary postcolonial art political-economies in Hong Kong, South Korea, India, PRC and Palestine. Harris is editor of a new I.B. Tauris book series on 'Global Asia' and seeks high quality manuscripts on contemporary art and visual culture. Harris's next book is a study of the art market as a facet of global capitalism (I.B. Tauris).

Art Forum is a series of lectures and presentations by artists, critics, museum directors, art historians, and curators. Through exposing students to the experiences of international artists and members of the global arts community, this course intends to introduce students to the creative process, different philosophies of art, and the role of art in private and public life.
