Successful Careers in Real Estate: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, from the Classroom to the Board Room
In 1982, he joined the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), a not-for profit international real estate industry trade association, as Director of Programs, moving through the organization to become its President and CEO from 1986 – 2003. As ICSC CEO, Mr. Riordan was also a Founding Member of The Center for Real Estate at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and continues to be involved with the Center. Upon retirement from the ICSC, the ICSC Schools for Professional Development were named in Mr. Riordan's honor.
Mr. Riordan also served as full time Chairman of the MIT Center for Real Estate from 2001 to 2003.
Mr. Riordan received an Honorary Degree from Montclair State University in 2011, and is currently a member of the MSU College of Humanities and Social Sciences Advisory Board.
