Health Insurance Waiver Deadline Extended
Deadline Has Been Extended to Friday, October 7.
Health Insurance is Mandatory
Montclair State University requires all full-time undergraduate and graduate students (12 or more credits for undergraduate, nine or more credits for graduate) to carry health insurance.
University's UnitedHealthcare Plan OR Your Private Plan
You can either be covered by the University's UnitedHealthcare plan or your own comparable personal plan.
NOTE: Full-time students are automatically enrolled in the University Health Plan through UnitedHealthcare. All students must either:
Waive the University’s UnitedHealthcare plan and use their own personal health care plan, OR
Pay for the UnitedHealthcare plan.
Remember, you are automatically enrolled in the University’s UnitedHealthcare plan and billed for this coverage in your NEST Student Accounts statement.
You must waive the University's UnitedHealthcare plan if you want to use your own personal health care plan.
Students enrolled in a comparable health insurance plan may be eligible to waive the student health insurance through UnitedHealthcare. If you already have health insurance coverage through your family, spouse or employer, you may opt to waive the University Healthcare plan.
How To Waive
To waive your automatic enrollment in the University’s UnitedHealthcare plan go to: First Student website. Students must complete this form each calendar year. The waiver site for the fall 2016 semester is open now..
Go to the First Student website.
Select “Waive Your School’s Health Insurance” on the left hand side of the page.
Select “Waive Now.”
Enter your date of birth (mm/dd/yyyy) and your CWID to access the waiver form.
Complete the Waiver Form with the required health insurance information. Do not leave any fields blank.
Print your confirmation page. If you do not receive a confirmation, your waiver was not submitted successfully.
It is important that you review your bill on NEST periodically to ensure your account is credited after completing a waiver. Credits are applied to the student’s account within two-to-three business days after a waiver is received. If you are having a problem waiving your insurance, please send an email to email@example.com.
