Born in Seoul, South Korea, and immigrated to the United States in 1997, Dr. Youn-Hee Kim won numerous competitions in both S. Korea and the US. including first prize and the best performance award at the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition in 2000 and third prize at the 2001 Carmel International Piano Competition taken place quadrennially. Dr. Kim completed all of her degrees with full-tuition scholarships: she was the first recipient of Alicia de Larrocha Scholarship.  Highly praising Youn-Hee's performance, Alicia de Larrocha wrote to her: " To Youn-Hee: with or without competitions, you will be a fantastic artist."
