Markus Cruse is a Professor at Arizona State University and a Faculty Affiliate of the Arizona Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. His areas of research include Marco Polo, medieval performance culture and travel literature, the literature of the Crusades, the cultural history of Paris, and Francophone Caribbean literature. He is currently working on a book on the fourteenth-century French manuscripts of Marco Polo's travel accounts, and has previously published on illuminated manuscripts of the Roman d'Alexandre, romance manuscripts, and the sense of place in Haitian literature.
