Dr. Micheline Sheehy Skeffington
National University of Ireland Galway:
"Hanna and Francis Sheehy Skeffington,
feminists, nationalists, pacifists, socialists:
their role in early 20th century Ireland"
Micheline Sheehy Skeffington is the granddaughter of Ireland's most famous progressive political activists, the feminists / socialists/ pacifists Hanna Sheehy Skeffington and her husband Frank Sheehy Skeffington, who was executed without trial in the middle of the Easter Rising, a violent rebellion he opposed and in which he was not participating. MSS will talk about her grandparents and their political work. Montclair State University is the final stop on her American tour, which reenacts her grandmother's 1917 tour. Parts of this event may be filmed for a documentary covering MSS's tour.
