Mike Barnicle joins us for a look at the state of journalism and the role of the press today. A Pulitzer Prize winning author and journalist, Mike Barnicle has seen a lot in more than four decades covering politics and news. From Vietnam and Boston school desegregation through 9/11 and the terrorism wars, Barnicle has written "the first draft of history" of America from the ground up. His column in the Boston Globe and reporting for NBC News centered on stories of regular people and how big stories affected all of us.

Recently, as a Senior contributor for MSNBC's Morning Joe, Barnicle has a front seat in the clash between President Donald Trump and the press. Morning Joe' hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have openly clashed with President Trump. Presidential tweets have singled them out as part of the main stream media who he calls "enemy of the people." The show has even been repeatedly lampooned by Saturday Night Live.
