Life with Layla, a ReelAbilities NJ Film Festival selection, will be screened as part of the School of Communication and Media's colloquium series

The opioid epidemic has destroyed lives and ravaged communities across America. Seven-year-old Layla is well aware of her family's history of drug and alcohol addiction. After losing an aunt to a fatal overdose, Layla's family struggles to cope with their loss, and with other family members' continuing heroin addiction.

Professor Mark Rosenweig will moderate the post screening Q&A with co-directors Ken Spooner and Mike Mee, and producer Steve McCarthy.

Reserve your seat today.

Life with Layla world premiered at the ReelAbilities NJ Film Festival in May and was awarded the 2019 Montclair Film Festival New Jersey Films Competition. ReelAbilities programming is made possible by generous funding from the Kessler Foundation.
