PRISM at Montclair State University is the lead organizer of the Innovate STEM grant funded fellowship. The summer institute is limited to only the 30 fellows who were accepted into the program. during the Spring 2019 term. Participants will join a cadre of other exceptional teachers to learn how to implement a math teaching practice called “number strings.” They will receive instructional materials (books of strings) that are applicable to the levels they teach.

The fellows represent districts throughout the state and will interact with fellows in their region outside of school hours, once a month, in an in-person, supportive professional learning community (PLC) at either Montclair State University, Princeton University, or Rowan University. In the PLC they will reflect, guided by a facilitator, on how their implementation of strings is progressing and what their students are learning.
