Our Speakers

  • Elizabeth Joy Erwin is Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning. Dr. Erwin's scholarship has focused on early childhood and inclusive education, the power of presence, mindfulness and well-being, family-professional partnerships, sense of belonging in early childhood, and self-determination.
  • Sarika S. Gupta is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at Hunter College, City University of New York. Her teaching and research center around the belief that all children, regardless of their ability level, have the right to access and participate in general education settings. She examines factors, such and leadership and wellbeing, that influence the quality of inclusive practices within early childhood settings. This work spans a focus on self to systems, and includes creating safe spaces to reflexively explore one's positionality.   • Victoria I. Puig is an Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning. She is also the Faculty Liaison at the Ben Samuel Children's Center. Dr. Puig's research includes inclusive early childhood education, culture and linguistic diversity, partnering with families of young children with disabilities, and mentoring new teachers.
  • Minsun Shin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning. She has a belief that education takes place in and through human relationships. Her research includes infant caregiving, social-emotional development, the development of caregiver-child relationships, and early childhood teacher education.
  • Milla Yakubov is the Acting Director at Ben Samuels Children's Center at MSU with over 20 years of experience in early childhood education. She practices teaching and supporting children with and without special needs in an inclusive early childhood education program.
