Writer & Director Max Barbakow Comes to Film Forum
Max is a director/writer/mammal in California.
PALM SPRINGS, his narrative feature debut, premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. It went on to receive two Golden Globe Nominations, a Writers Guild of America Award Nomination for Best Original Screenplay, and the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Comedy.
He also wrote and directed MOMMY, I'M A BASTARD!, an autobiographical feature documentary about his adoption.
Max earned his MFA in Directing from the AFI Conservatory, trained with Werner Herzog at Escuela Internacional de CineTV in Cuba, and is a graduate of Yale University.
