Date: Sept. 16
Time: 11:30–12:30
Location: The TENT on the east side of Computing and Information Science (CIS)

For ages, and across cultures, parents have tended to think they have a right to rule their children. . . but do they? If they do, where does this right come from? What, moreover, is the purpose of parental power? And, finally, does it have any limits? In this week's P4L we will read and discuss 17th century philosopher John Locke's revolutionary answers to these questions, and critically examine their usefulness for parents and children today.
