General Lab Safety / Right to Know
Laboratory employees and students planning to work with chemicals or other potentially hazardous materials must attend this session prior to beginning work.
This classroom course is approximately 1.5 hours in length and it is intended to supplement the hands-on training provided by the principal investigator or senior lab members.
Required for those who work in laboratories where chemicals or other potentially hazardous materials are used- covers Hazard communication, Safety Data Sheets, personal protective equipment (gloves, safety glasses, lab coats, etc) engineering controls, administrative controls, respiratory protection, noise protection, biological hazards ( not blood borne pathogens) Training is required in order to comply with the NJ Right-To-Know law and PEOSHA's Hazardous Communication law, as well as OSHAs Lab Standard.
All new employees and students working in a research lab MUST attend a classroom training session.
