Softball Constitution

Preamble

The purpose of the Club Softball team is to allow players to grow and develop to be their best.

Article I. Name of Club Sport

The name of the club shall be Montclair State University Club Softball.

Article II. Purpose

Section 1: The purpose of this constitution is to provide a guideline for managing and operating the team.

Section 2: The goal of this team is to enhance the skills of players and build a team to win playoffs, enhance leadership skills, as well as teamwork.

Article III. Membership

Section 1: Any female currently enrolled in classes, as an undergraduate student is eligible for membership.

Section 2: In order to be considered an active member members: must pay dues on timely basis, complete player agreements, maintain a 2.0 GPA, complete registration with NCSA, and participate in at least 2 fundraisers.

Section 3: For those members in good standing are entitled the privileges of participating in practices and games, attending tournaments, participating in fundraising and team events.

Article IV. Officers

Section 1: Duties of Office

A. President

  • Meet with advisor on regular basis
  • Orchestrate practices
  • Schedule Non-Conference Games
  • Schedule Umpires
  • Ensure all players are eligible
  • Oversee constitution and budget
  • Recruit new players

B. Vice President

  • Assist President with any responsibility
  • Orchestrate practices
  • Create constitution
  • Recruit new players

C. Treasurer

  • Create budget
  • Meet with advisor on regular basis
  • Fundraising
  • Ensuring Umpires and Field Fees are paid in timely fashion
  • Reserve any accommodations needed for transportation

D. Secretary

  • Keep track of all paperwork for team
  • Take note of what takes place at team meetings
  • Taking attendance at team practices
  • Overseeing Constitution

Section 2: Those in office must be members in good standing for a minimum of two semesters. Officers may be in their sophomore through senior years at Montclair State.

Section 3: The outgoing officers are responsible for appointing new officers. The entire team must approve those being appointed before officially becoming an officer.

Section 4: The officer determines the length of their term. They may hold office until they either graduate or decide to step down.

Article V. Committees

There will be a fundraising committee ran by the treasurer. The committee will consist of at least 4 eligible members. They will be in charge of scheduling and running said fundraisers.

Article VI. Meetings

Section 1: The Executive Board will meet twice month to address the administrative business of the club. Meetings with the advisor will also be held once a month to address the administrative business.

Section 2: General meetings will be held twice a semester. They will be held at the beginning and end of each semester. The meetings will be mandatory for all officers and eligible members.

Section 3: If there is to be special or emergency meeting, members will be notified via text message and email. The member who calls the meeting must address any officer before calling the emergency meeting.

Article VII. Affiliations

Section 1: The national governing body this club has a master membership towards is the National Club Softball Association. The NCSA rules requires members pay dues decided by the school. Members must be enrolled in courses while participating in club.

Section 2: This club is affiliated with the NCSA league. It is part of the New England South Region of the league.

Article VIII. Coaching/Instruction

Section 1: Coaching is provided by the officers of the club. Officers run practices and games. Outside coaches are accepted on a volunteer basis.

Article IX. Club Funds

Section 1: Membership dues are $275 per member for academic year. They are allowed to raise or decline by choice of officers. They are to be collected before September 30 of every academic year. Members only interested in participating for one semester must pay reduced dues no later than two weeks into semester. They are to be paid by credit card either in full or on installment plan.

Section 2: Funds may also be acquired through fundraising. Money raised will be deposited into the Club Softball account through the Club Sports Offices.
