Recognizing Our Student Interns
\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Each year, Career Services recognizes student interns who take advantage of applied learning experiences by completing a credit-bearing co-op or internship.\u00a0 Through hard work and dedication, these students gain invaluable work experiences with local, national and global companies and organizations.\u00a0 During the 2018-2019 academic year, Montclair State University students interned with organizations such as Coco Cola, iHeartMedia, RWJBarnabas Health, Johnson & Johnson, Panasonic, NBC Universal, New York Jets, Prudential, and UPS.<\/p>\n

Cooperative Education (Co-op) is a University-wide, credit-bearing, experience-based learning program that provides students with preparation, counseling, academic projects and the opportunity to reflect on what is learned. It\u2019s a great resume builder and a way to test out a career.\u00a0 Over 750 students participated in the University’s co-op program in the 2018 – 2019 academic year.<\/p>\n

Summer 2018 Intern, Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

The Cooperative Education Committee has selected Alexa Guidetti as the 2019 Co-op Student of the Year and has presented her a $250 award for her achievement. Alexa went above and beyond during her co-op experience at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. Not only did she learn about the facets of gun and KROL hearings, she exemplified her understanding through the research she conducted on new gun legislation, the interactions she had with victims as she comforted them prior to their testimony, and the assistance she provided to the county’s Assistant Prosecutors, Junior Police Academy, and high school students during their annual mock trial.<\/p>\n

Alexa’s time with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office has had a tremendous impact on her career development and future goals.\u00a0 Alexa stated in her application that she sought out this internship to help her decide on a career path.\u00a0 “I would say that this internship was successful because it did help me decide,” Alexa wrote.\u00a0 “I loved my time at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office so much that my goal is to make it back there as a full-time employee.”\u00a0 Following this experience, Alexa has begun to pursue the necessary steps to one day become a detective.<\/p>\n
