{"id":123859,"date":"2022-01-21T12:20:48","date_gmt":"2022-01-21T17:20:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/cchl\/?p=123859"},"modified":"2022-01-21T12:20:48","modified_gmt":"2022-01-21T17:20:48","slug":"newark-board-of-education-and-msu-collaborative-virtual-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/cchl\/2022\/01\/21\/newark-board-of-education-and-msu-collaborative-virtual-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Newark Board of Education and MSU Collaborative Virtual Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On January 20, 2022, the Newark Board of Education and Montclair State University held a collaborative virtual meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting contained a Centering Activity, led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/~jaseygoodmar\">Rhena Jasey-Goodman<\/a>, Induction Coordinator of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/center-of-pedagogy\">Center of Pedagogy<\/a>. Then, updates from Partnership Teams occurred. The teams include the Transformative Education Network (TEN), the Bilingual Education Team, and the NBOE\/MSU Leadership Pipeline Program.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/cchl\/transformative-education-network-ten\">Transformative Education Network (TEN)<\/a> prepares, supports and develops teachers who teach toward antiracism and social justice. TEN was created as an inclusive umbrella term for three programs: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/center-of-pedagogy\/teachers-of-color-grant-opportunities\/urban-teacher-residency-at-montclair-state-university-utrmsu\">Urban Teacher Residency (UTR)<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/center-of-pedagogy\/teachers-of-color-grant-opportunities\/newark-teacher-project\">Newark Teacher Project (NTP)<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/cchl\/critical-urban-education-speaker-series\">Critical Urban Education (CUE)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bilingual education supports the learning of grade-level content across all curricula. At Montclair State University, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/teaching-and-learning\/academic-programs\/literacy-language-and-bi-lingual-bi-cultural-programs\">Bilingual Bicultural Education Endorsement Program<\/a> prepares teachers to work effectively with English Language Learners and their families.<\/p>\n<p>The NBOE\/MSU Leadership Pipeline Program is a strategy to produce a continuous flow of viable candidates with the capacity to cultivate school improvement and increase student achievement.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/center-of-pedagogy\/red-hawks-rising-dual-enrollment-program\">Red Hawks Rising (RHR) Dual Enrollment Teacher Academy<\/a> gave a project overview. Through a unique partnership between Newark Public Schools and CEHS, students enrolled in East Side or University High School can take college-level courses, at no cost, that will apply towards a degree at Montclair State University.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was informative and displayed the dedication and hard work of both the Newark Board of Education and the College of Education and Human Services.
