The award committee was very impressed with her research accomplishments.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Cio\u00e8-Pe\u00f1a will be recognized during the AERA 2022 annual business meeting for the Bilingual Education Research SIG in San Diego, CA, and will receive a plaque from the AERA Bilingual Education Research SIG, and a cash award of $500.00.<\/p>\n<p>Her research focuses on bilingual children with dis\/abilities, their families, and their ability to access multilingual learning spaces within NYC public schools. Her interests are deeply rooted in language practices and dis\/ability awareness within schools and families. Dr. Cio\u00e8-Pe\u00f1a was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/cchl\/2019\/02\/11\/19164_dr-cioe-pena-awarded-2019-outstanding-dissertation-award-by-the-national-association-for-bilingual-education\">awarded first place for 2019 Outstanding Dissertation of the Year<\/a> by the National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Maria Cio\u00e8-Pe\u00f1a, Assistant Professor in the\u00a0Educational Foundations Department, recently received the 2022 AERA Bilingual Research SIG Early Career Award.
