{"id":124091,"date":"2022-03-07T12:26:33","date_gmt":"2022-03-07T17:26:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/cchl\/?p=124091"},"modified":"2022-03-07T12:26:33","modified_gmt":"2022-03-07T17:26:33","slug":"faculty-and-students-presenting-at-the-american-educational-research-association-aera-2022-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/cchl\/2022\/03\/07\/faculty-and-students-presenting-at-the-american-educational-research-association-aera-2022-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Faculty and Students Presenting at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) 2022 Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thousands of scholars from education and aligned fields and disciplines will join together and present their work at the 2022 American Educational Research Association (AERA) San Diego, California, and virtual meeting, April 21-26, 202s. The theme of this year\u2019s meeting is \u201cCultivating Equitable Education Systems for the 21st Century.\u201d Education faces a myriad of challenges and opportunities. Among them are residual effects of the four pandemics (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aera.net\/Events-Meetings\/Annual-Meeting\/2022-Annual-Meeting-Presidential-Program-Theme#_ftn1\">Ladson-Billings, 2021<\/a>)\u2014the COVID-19 pandemic, the pandemic of systemic racism, the economic crisis, and the climate crisis\u2014that together lay bare the long-standing and deep disparities in our systems of education and call for a new charge. This historical moment is an opportunity to build systems that realize the full potential of people and communities. It is a time for us to be laser-focused on understanding and redressing educational inequalities and building systems that embrace equity and justice. To do this, we must dismantle, redesign, and reconstruct systems that have reinforced and propagated structural racism, anti-Blackness, and educational injustice for minoritized people. We must move towards the reimagining and creation of systems that view opportunity and education as a human right.<\/p>\n<p>In the past, over 14,000 scholars have attended individual AERA Annual Meetings.
