{"id":124982,"date":"2023-04-03T07:56:45","date_gmt":"2023-04-03T11:56:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/ceel\/?p=124982"},"modified":"2023-04-03T07:56:45","modified_gmt":"2023-04-03T11:56:45","slug":"cehs-represented-on-panel-in-honor-of-world-down-syndrome-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/ceel\/2023\/04\/03\/cehs-represented-on-panel-in-honor-of-world-down-syndrome-day\/","title":{"rendered":"CEHS Represented on Panel in Honor of World Down Syndrome Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>In honor of W<\/span>orld Down Syndrome Day, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/disability-caucus\/?\">The MSU Disability Caucus<\/a>, the New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education (NJCIE) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/center-for-autism-and-early-childhood-mental-health\/\">Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health (CAECMH)<\/a> hosted a film screening of the award-winning film Forget Me Not: Inclusion in the Classroom, directed by Olivier Bernier. The screening was followed by a post-film panel discussion on the continued and systematic segregation of students with Down Syndrome in schools.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The live panel discussion included Olivier Bernier (filmmaker), Fred Buglione (Chief Executive Officer of NJCIE); and Montclair State University\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/profilepages\/view_profile.php?username=clarke\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Erin Clark Wecht<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (Inclusion Specialist at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/ben-samuels-childrens-center\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ben Samuels Children\u2019s Center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">). <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/profilepages\/view_profile.php?username=lalvanip\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. Priya Lalvani<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Professor in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/teaching-and-learning\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Department of Teaching and Learning<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, moderated the panel.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The event was an enormous success with attendees coming from all over the state of New Jersey.
