Newark Board of Education and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.montclair.edu\/programs\/educational-leadership-ma\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Educational Leadership (M.A.)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> program faculty and staff collaborate to coordinate this program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Current <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.k12.nj.us\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Newark Board of Education<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> educators who receive the district\u2019s endorsement are eligible to apply, and this spring, Cohort #3 graduated and completed the program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Vinicio Quinteros, a Cohort 3 graduate, is a Newark Board of Education (NBOE) educator with over 14 years of teaching experience. He is a special education teacher teaching history at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.k12.nj.us\/barringer\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Barringer High School<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and is currently seeking employment as a Vice Principal within the NBOE.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe past two years have been very challenging, but at the same time, I\u2019ve felt I developed the skills and knowledge I need to become an educational leader,\u201d said Quinteros.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He received a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and was the recipient of a 2024 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aasa.org\/about-aasa\/awards-grants\/educational-administration-scholarships\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">AASA Educational Administration&#8217;s Scholarship<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a select national prize awarded by the School Superintendents Association for promising district leaders. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">His outstanding performance at Montclair State University also earned him one of two annual Dean Lucas Student Leadership Awards.<\/span><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"prpl-band-small scalable no-margin\"><div class=\"text-content\"><figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/ceel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2024\/07\/05222024_0023_CEEL-NMLPP-Cohort-3-Graduation-Celebration.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/ceel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2024\/07\/05222024_0023_CEEL-NMLPP-Cohort-3-Graduation-Celebration.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\" alt=\"Cohort 3 participant engaging in speech\"\/><\/figure>\n<p><em>Jonathan Flateau and his peers enjoyed a celebratory video recapping their time together.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Participants completed a rigorous academic curriculum and engaged in authentic school-based experiences. The collaborative program develops outstanding educators with the skills, knowledge, and dispositions<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to lead Newark Board of Education schools and serve the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newarknj.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">City of Newark<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> community.<\/span><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"prpl-band-small scalable no-margin\"><div class=\"text-content\"><figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/ceel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2024\/07\/05222024_0016_CEEL-NMLPP-Cohort-3-Graduation-Celebration.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/ceel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2024\/07\/05222024_0016_CEEL-NMLPP-Cohort-3-Graduation-Celebration.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.k12.nj.us\/departments\/office-of-the-superintendent\/roger-leon-superintendent\/\">Roger Le\u00f3n<\/a>, Newark Board of Education Superintendent, attended to address the graduating cohort. Cohort 3 presented Mr. Le\u00f3n with a gift to commemorate his unwavering support for the success of the program and its participants. Mr. Le\u00f3n is a Montclair State University alumnus and earned his Master of Arts in Administration and Supervision. They completed their first year in the program and will soon take on a leadership position in the district\u2019s K-12 summer programming before starting their second year in the program. The summer leadership role is a core component of the NMLPP that provides aspiring district leaders with practical and authentic learning opportunities. <\/span><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"prpl-band-small scalable no-margin\"><div class=\"text-content\"><figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/ceel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2024\/07\/05222024_0006_CEEL-NMLPP-Cohort-3-Graduation-Celebration.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/ceel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2024\/07\/05222024_0006_CEEL-NMLPP-Cohort-3-Graduation-Celebration.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/profilepages\/view_profile.php?username=garverr\">Dr. Rachel Garver<\/a> is the Advisor of the NMLPP and an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership. Dr. Garver coordinates the program in partnership with Matthew Brewster, Director of the Office of Staff Development for NBOE, and Carla Engstrom, Program Administrator for the Department of Educational Leadership.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe have created an innovative and supportive community for leadership development. The cohort members become incredibly tight over their five semesters in the program, and these relationships not only support them in successfully completing the program but also strengthen networks in the district over the long term. Cohort members receive unique opportunities to develop as school leaders, and, most importantly, graduates report that they feel prepared to lead when they take on administrative roles,\u201d said Dr. Garver.<\/span><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<div class=\"prpl-band-small scalable no-margin\"><div class=\"text-content\">\n<div class=\"prpl-row\">\n<div class=\"prpl-column one-half\">\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/ceel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2024\/07\/05222024_0002_CEEL-NMLPP-Cohort-3-Graduation-Celebration.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/ceel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2024\/07\/05222024_0002_CEEL-NMLPP-Cohort-3-Graduation-Celebration.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-column one-half\">\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/ceel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2024\/07\/05222024_0001_CEEL-NMLPP-Cohort-3-Graduation-Celebration.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/ceel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/271\/2024\/07\/05222024_0001_CEEL-NMLPP-Cohort-3-Graduation-Celebration.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> <em>Lunch was prepared by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.k12.nj.us\/nwv\/\">Newark Vocational High School<\/a> Culinary Arts Academy students.<\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Cohort 3 graduate Marcia Frater-Waldron is an English as a Second Language (ESL) educator at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.k12.nj.us\/SOU\/\">South Street School.<\/a> She received a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and will pursue a doctoral degree.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> She shared, \u201cMy experience has been a tremendous one. There is so much you get from the Newark Montclair Leadership Pipeline Program. I\u2019ve formed friendships, and the professors hold your hand from the very start to the very end.
