On Tuesday, April 24th, the College of Education and Human Services recognized over 100 students, alumni, and distinguished professionals at the 2019 Annual Awards Ceremony.  Dean Tamara Lucas prefaced her introductions by saying, “All of our work is grounded in fundamental commitments regarding the responsibilities and privileges of educators and human service professionals. You are here because you share our commitment to working toward a healthier, better educated, more just society; to building a more just and equitable future for the children and families of this region; and to making a difference in peoples’ lives.”

To honor the award recipients, the program featured presentations of awards to celebrate students and alumni within the College’s eight academic departments and the Center of Pedagogy. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of the Dean’s Awards, given to outstanding professionals making a positive difference in their community. The recipients of the Dean’s Awards included: Evelyne Richardson-Thomas received the William A. Cuff Educator Award, Sandy Heintz was awarded the Ercell I. Watson Memorial Fund Award, and Florey Cruz-Cerpa was named the George G. King Award recipient.

Faculty, staff, family members and friends were in attendance to celebrate and support the award recipients on this special night.  The conclusion of the Ceremony marked the beginning of students’ finals week and the proverbial countdown to the end of the school year.
