Dr. Stephanie Silvera, Professor in the Public Health Department, was interviewed by WNYC New York Public Radio this morning about the state of COVID-19 in New Jersey.

When asked about the risk indoor parties pose, she noted: “I think any indoor activities are a risk, especially if you are talking about parties where people are eating and drinking and therefore not wearing a mask.” Additionally, she added, “If you’re having people gather where they don’t currently live, and they aren’t wearing masks, that does increase the risk of spreading the virus.”

In regards to outdoor parties, she remarked: “Outdoor risk is less than indoor risk because you do have ventilation and there is a breeze, for example.”
