Dr. Katia Paz Goldfarb, Dr. Elizabeth Rivera Rodas, and Dr. Stephen Ruszczyk Receive National Science Foundation Grant

Dr. Katia Paz Goldfarb, Assistant Vice President for Hispanic Serving Initiatives; Dr. Elizabeth Rivera Rodas, Assistant Professor in Educational Foundations; and Dr. Stephen Ruszczyk, Assistant Professor in Sociology recently received a grant from the National Science Foundation. The grant award is for $82,329 for their project, “Build and Broaden: The Long-Term Impact of COVID-19 in Hispanic Communities in the Tri-State Area.”

Dr. Elizabeth Rivera Rodas, a faculty member within the College of Education and Human Services, is an economist of education, whose scholarly interests involve the economics of urban education, residential and school segregation, and teacher quality. Previous research investigates the impact that the release of the New York City teacher quality data had on housing prices in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens and the impact that release had on residential and school demographics. She uses advanced econometric techniques to study the impact of public policies on racial and socioeconomic disparities on educational access, quality, and achievement.
