Dr. Stephanie Silvera, Professor in the Public Health Department, recently appeared on Chat Box with David Cruz regarding COVID-19 risks in New Jersey and whether or not the state is on the right track.

Dr. Silvera stated, “I think right now the concern we’re looking at is this new sub-variant of omicron, this BA.2. The big concern is that it is, as far as we know, somewhere between 30-50% more transmissible. That means that people who are susceptible are more likely to get it just because it’s more contagious…even more than the omicron variant…Remember, more transmissible than the delta variant. So it’s getting more and more transmissible. We’re balancing that with more people who are vaccinated, more people who’ve been exposed to omicron, and the spring…So people are hopefully going to go outside for their BBQs and not gather indoors.”
