Alyssa Rose Gives LinkedIn Presentation

Alyssa Rose, a second-year student from the MA in Counseling program with a concentration in school counseling, recently gave a presentation on LinkedIn. Alyssa previously attended St. John’s University where she majored in psychology and minored in criminal justice. She currently works as a Graduate Assistant in the CEHS Career Services Department. There she meets with undergraduate students individually and assists them with their professional development, as well as hosting workshops covering topics such as resume writing, time management, professionalism, and interview skills.

The LinkedIn presentation covered the beginning stages of creating a LinkedIn and the various components of it including the intro component, education/experience component, and the social component. The intro component reviewed the headshot, headline, and summary. The education/experience component went over what should be included on their LinkedIn profile and where it should be on their profile. The social component showed the importance of networking and how to expand that network by utilizing the various features LinkedIn provides as a professional social media platform.

Overall, it gave students the big picture of what LinkedIn is and how to take advantage of it while they are developing professionally.
