Doctoral Education

In 1998, Montclair State University became the first of New Jersey’s public institutions of higher education to join Rutgers University in offering a doctoral degree. Today, the university is recognized as a Carnegie R2 doctoral research institution. CEHS offers three rigorous Ph.D. programs in Counseling, Family Science & Human Development, and Teacher Education and Teacher Development. In Fall of 2020, these programs enrolled roughly 160 students.

The three CEHS doctoral programs are Counseling, Family Science & Human Development, and Teacher Education and Teacher Development, with roughly 160 students enrolled (Fall 2020 data).
