{"id":122130,"date":"2021-03-18T11:36:09","date_gmt":"2021-03-18T15:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/cehs\/?p=122130"},"modified":"2021-03-18T11:36:09","modified_gmt":"2021-03-18T15:36:09","slug":"can-nyc-meet-its-covid-19-vaccination-goal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/cehs\/2021\/03\/18\/can-nyc-meet-its-covid-19-vaccination-goal\/","title":{"rendered":"Can NYC Meet its COVID-19 Vaccination Goal?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Both the governor and the mayor said on Friday that they\u2019re taking very seriously President Joe Biden\u2019s pledge to have all people who want a coronavirus vaccination signed up for one by May 1.<\/p>\n<p>The president also pledged that all Americans would be able to get together in small groups by Independence Day, safely, if everybody gets the vaccine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/~silveras\">Dr. Stephanie Silvera<\/a>, Professor in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/public-health\">Public Health Department<\/a> believes achieving full herd immunity is likely going to require local and county governments to increase their role in inoculations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now, we are at 13% of the adult population who have been fully vaccinated,\u201d she said. \u201cGetting to 75% is going to be no small effort.
