Through the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, New Jersey Project LAUNCH (NJPL) promotes a comprehensive, coordinated health system to address the physical, emotional, social, behavioral, and cognitive aspects of child wellness from birth to eight years of age. Focusing on Irvington, Newark, East Orange and Orange, NJPL strives to reduce and ultimately eliminate differences in access, service use, and outcomes for families most vulnerable to systems of discrimination or exclusion and\/or health disparities based on their racial or ethnic group, religion, socioeconomic status, gender, age, mental health, cognitive, sensory, or physical disability.<\/p>\n
All Project LAUNCH grantees, including the Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health at Montclair State University, implement five core promotion and prevention strategies intended to increase access to high-quality prevention and promotion services for children and families, including screening and assessment, early childhood mental health consultation, enhanced home visiting, integrating behavioral health into primary care, and family strengthening.<\/p>\n
About<\/strong><\/p>\n Circle of Security (COS) Parenting Training\u00a9 teaches professionals how to use an eight-chapter DVD for the education of caregivers in infant and early childhood settings.<\/p>\n Materials presented include examples of problematic parent\/child interaction, healthy caregiving options and animated graphics designed to clarify the principles that are\u00a0fundamental to COS\u00a9.\u00a0Circle of Security Parenting\u00a9 utilizes decades of attachment research and applies it to group settings, home visitation and individual counseling.<\/p>\n This training, which is usually held over a four-day period, is targeted at professionals who provide parent education or counseling to parents of young children, as well as to mental health workers. It is for those professionals who either currently are or in the near future will be in a capacity to provide this training to parents in their centers and communities.<\/p>\n Location<\/strong><\/p>\n Trainings are typically held on the Montclair State University campus.<\/p>\n Dates<\/strong><\/p>\n Trainings are usually held over a consecutive four-day period.
