Programs and Initiatives

Through capacity-building efforts of students, community partners, faculty, and staff, the CCE serves as a central hub connecting the campus to the local communities and the region. Today, the CCE houses a wide array of programs and projects that foster community engagement and democratic practice. In these initiatives educators, students, and community partners forge new ways to teach and learn together, through experiential education modes such as community-engaged learning and participatory action research; through curricular communities and programs such as the Leadership Development through Civic Engagement minor; and through service initiatives such as the Bonner Leader and EECO AmeriCorps programs. Each year the Center engages over 1000 students in partnership with 200 community partners and 30 faculty members to seek solutions to real issues of public concern.
