Getting Started

How Do I Get Started?

You can access Experience Montclair in two ways, but both involve Suitable!

  1. Download the Suitable App Today!
  2. Access Experience Montclair through NEST!
    • Log into NEST using your University NetID and password.
    • On the NEST homepage, find the Experience Montclair portlet.
    • Select the Experience Montclair link to automatically be logged into Experience Montclair.
  3. Once you’re logged in, explore the app and start building your portfolio.

When Do I Get Started?


All first-time freshmen and first-semester transfers are required to complete a series of activities as part of their first-year acclimation activities. Once complete, you will earn a badge signifying your achievement! This achievement is known as the “First Semester Achievement Badge.”

Requirements will include the following:

Watch the “First Steps to Success” Online Workshop

  • Description: Learn what it takes to be a successful student at MSU! Once you’ve completed the online workshop, please complete a short quiz for credit
  • Credit awarded by completing 3 – 5 question survey

Watch a Social Justice video – I am What I Am: Combating Stereotypes

  • Description: This presentation delves into the origins and effects of stereotypes. You will learn examples of what it can look like when we combat stereotypes and allow folks to be their individual selves.
  • Credit will be awarded upon completion of a three (3) quiz in the Suitable platform.

Complete a Virtual Scavenger Hunt

  • Description: Know before you go! Learn about information related to academic life and wellness
  • Credit awarded upon submission and review.

Please Note: You will learn more about how to complete the First-Semester Achievement Badge” in your New Student Seminar (GNED 199) course.
